Shea Lolin began to play the piano at the age of fifteen and clarinet at the age of seventeen, with clear musical intentions he entered into a degree only one year on, studying at Colchester Institute School of Music with Charles Hine and the Angela Fussell (clarinet) and Francis Reneau (piano). He won the Brookes Trophy for Woodwind Ensembles, the Harvey Benham Cup for Mixed Ensembles and the John Myatt Cup for Solo Woodwind.

As a clarinetist Shea is a versatile performer, giving formal recitals at prestigious venues including St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James’s (Piccadilly) and the Purcell Room. He has also played less formal music with Duo Windy Strings in Pizza Express, Stratford and Theatre Royal. With an active interest in the British clarinet repertoire, he has given performances of the major works by composers such as Finzi, Ireland, Howells, Stanford and Bush. As a chamber clarinetist, Shea has played alongside groups such as the Mühlfeld Trio and the Enigma String Quartet with whom he gave a performance of the Clarinet Quintet by Brahms during the Newham Music Month festival in 2006.

As a pianist Shea has worked in many different environments from formal playing (such as accompanying for examinations, festivals, dance classes and competitions) to providing music for weddings, social events, hotels and corporate functions. The latter has taken him to the Langham Hotel, Southbank and a regular slot at the Clothworkers’ Company, an ancient Livery Company in the City of London.
