Chromosphere highlighted in the Czech Philharmonic’s nomination for Orchestra of the Year 2024.

The Czech Philharmonic have been nominated for the Orchestra of the Year 2024 award by the Gramophone Classical Music Award.
The Gramophone Classical Music Awards is one of the most prestigious awards honours in the classical record industry which was launched in 1977. Seen as the British equivalent to the American GRAMMY, they are widely regarded as the most influential and prestigious classical music awards in the world.
The highly acclaimed album Chromosphere, conducted by Shea Lolin, has been highlighted in the nomination for the esteemed Orchestra of the Year 2024 award by the Gramophone Classical Music Awards.
The nomination highlights some of the award-winning albums released this year including Magdalena Kožená’s recital of Czech songs, Smetana’s Má Vlast, Mahler’s Symphony No 1 and Chromosphere, an innovative exploration of the woodwind orchestra's symphonic potential and its contribution to contemporary classical music.
Recorded in Prague’s iconic Dvorak Hall, the album presents world premiere recordings that reflect a spectrum of 21st-century musical styles, from the familiar to the avant-garde, while maintaining an accessible and inviting narrative with works by Keiron Anderson, Judith Bingham, Charlotte Harding, Kamran Ince, and Christopher Hussey.
After the release of the album in January this year at the Czech Centre, the recording has seen over 30,000 streams of the album on music streaming platforms and social media posts. The album has been praised by several notable reviews including Gramophone and BBC Radio 3. The album has been included on several streaming platform editorial paylists.
